PUPies and Viruses
No, it's not time to call the vet, but if your computer is running like
an overweight basset hound, it may be time to put a leash on some
unwanted programs. These unwanted programs are classified depending on
how they attach themselves to your computer. Read More
Church Websites
When designing or maintaining your church website, there are four things
you need to consider. You need to Specialize, Organize, Modify, and
Advertise. The difference between a successful church website and just
another spot on the web, can usually be attributed to the thought put
into these four areas. Read More
Windows 10
There is much talk about Windows 10 that Microsoft is currently working
on. After the fiasco called Windows 8, businesses especially have been
waiting with aging systems for the next OS. Windows 10 will probably be
released sometime late this year. Current technical review builds show
some promising improvements in the Microsoft OS. The best way I can
describe it is a merging of Windows 7 and Windows 8 with a few extra
features thrown in. Read More
Advanced Anti-Spam
All of our website hosting comes with unlimited email accounts and
anti-spam applications implemented on the email server. These
applications do a decent job of weeding out the spam while delivering
your good email. For clients who want an even more robust anti-spam
solution, we can configure Trend Micro's Hosted Email Security to catch
even more spam. If you want us to configure and manage this solution,
there will be a yearly charge of $49 per email address. Read More

Your computer is 8 years old? That's 160 in laptop years!!
One question I am often asked is ?How long should my computer last?? The
answer is always, ?It depends.? There are many factors that play into
how long you should expect to use your current computer. Our
expectations change over time. The software we use becomes more bloated.
The hardware degrades over time. Read More
There's a New Kid in Town (Chrome Books)
While we were all fighting over which laptop is better, an Apple based
or a Microsoft based, Google has released their own operating system.
Many computer manufacturers are now building laptops based on it as well
as the traditional Windows laptop. The Chrome Book is the new kid on the
block. But like a stubborn teenager, it does what it wants to do and
nothing more. It has some growing up to do, but it may turn out to be
the future of portable computing. Read More
Phuture of Phree Wi-Phi Phones
Well, maybe not totally free, but Wi-Fi is changing the way we think
about communications. If you still have an old land-line type of phone
at home, you are already behind the times. Cell phones have all but
killed the market for home phones. No longer do you call someone's
house, but now you call a person. Each person has their own cell phone
and their own cell phone number. (Anyone still remember party lines
where one phone line was shared among several houses?) Read More
Passwords - Keys to the Information Superhighway
?Hackers nab 1.2B passwords in colossal breach, says security firm? That
is the headline of an article from CNET in August of last year. So what
can you do to protect yourself from password heists? Unfortunately, we
are in a state of minimizing damage rather than avoiding it entirely.
Those 1.2 Billion passwords, and many others from similar attacks have
already been stolen. The horse is already out of the barn. The question
now becomes, ?What can be done to minimize the effect of this and
similar password breaches?? Read More

Our Backup Plans just got Beefier
Due to the popularity of our Online Backup plans, I?m now able to offer these plans with much more memory and lower per Gig prices. For each plan, I?ve doubled the amount of included backup and I?ve cut in half the amount you pay per Gigabyte over the plan. As always, I will check your data usage and calculate the best plan for you. For example, someone with 100 Gig?s of data would have been on the Server III plan and would have paid $174.95 per month. Under the new plans, this same person would be on the Server II plan with 20 Gig?s of overage. The new charge will be $124.95 per month. That?s a $50 per month savings. Read More
Windows 10... Ready or Not, Here it Comes!!!
Apparently, the whole world has not gone gaga over Windows 10 and already installed it on all of their Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines. So Microsoft has decided to be a bit more aggressive in forcing that to happen. Sometime soon, the Windows 10 upgrade will show up in Windows Optional updates. Depending on your Automatic update settings, this may be enough to trigger a Windows 10 Upgrade. Read More
New and Improved Web Hosting Services (But Wait!! There?s More!!!)
Over the last few weeks, we have transitioned all of our web and email hosting clients to a new type of hosting server. The main factor driving this change was to give us better control of our email delivery. Under the old system our email IP address was frequently considered suspect for spam. This reduced the ability of some of our emails to reach some of our recipients. The new system gives us more control over some key email settings and also isolates our IP address from others who may have been using it to send out spam. Read More
